Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies OR 1 (4 ounce) can jalapenos
1 cup monterey jack cheese, grated
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 loaf French bread (baguette or larger slices of bread of choice*)
Directions:
First, combine butter, chilies/peppers, cheese, mayo, and garlic powder. Then slice bread 1/4 inch thick and spread evenly with butter mixture. Finally, spread on a baking sheet and broil until cheese bubbles (about 2-3 minutes).
*If making on larger bread slices (or if yo like your bread more toasted) we bake at 350 for 10 minutes and then broil to make brown. You can play around with the recipe and experiment with how you like them cooked.
NOTE: If making ahead mix up wet ingredients in a bowl and pop in fridge. Separately slice up bread- set aside. Assemble when ready to bake & eat- but do not spread wet ingredients onto bread and let sit for too long as these are best enjoyed when they are made, baked and eaten right away.
